Post Flea Market Cleanup

We are still working on removing the items that did not sell at the flea market. There are items going to other churches, goodwill, and the scrap yard. On August 21st we had our final workday of the summer to break down the old computer desks. Between all the old (and unusable) tables and chairs we were able to make two sizable truck loads to the scrapyard near the 16th street bridge.

You can see my truck which held the oldest freezer in Pittsburgh and Bill’s truck was equally as full.

Flea Market 2010

This past Saturday we held a flea market in an effort to raise some extra money and get rid of a lot of extra stuff we have been storing. The day went very well and we had a number of people stop by. We even rescued a lost puppy! Click more for photos.

First Sunday Lunch

On July 4th we held our first summer lunch to fill time inbetween worship and Bountiful Blessings. We had a good number of people join us.

Thanks to Carol and Hannah Schumacher for preparing the meal. Afterward everyone missed the chance to see pastor roll up his sleves and mop the floor. The two of us stayed to cleanup as others went to Distribute food and items.

Lunch on First & Third Sundays

Everyone is invited to lunch on the 1st and 3rd Sundays in July and August after the service. The lunch was initiated when we realised that we have about an hour gap between the worship service and Bountiful Blessings hours. Rather than change hours, again, we decided to add a light lunch to the schedule.

Last week was our first of the summer lunches and we had a nice turnout. It was very pleasant to share a meal with those we serve regularly. We hope to see you there with the community that comes four our Bountiful Blessings and Food Pantry.

Calendar Added

If you look to the navigation bar at the top of the website you will see a new link to “Calendar.” I created a google calendar to share our events and activities. It is fairly sparse now but as we move through the year I’ll keep it up to date. Check it out and let me know if you would like to see anything added.

Speaking of the calendar we chose a few dates for this year:

The August work day has been moved to the 21st due to schedule conflicts.
The annual flea market and rummage sale has been scheduled for August 14.
The fall Harvest Party/Bountiful Blessings Dinner is scheduled for November 13.
The Christmas Gift Sunday is scheduled for December 12.

Summer Worship Times

Sunday worship and bible study times have changed for the summer months.

Sunday School & Bible Study – 8:30 a.m.

Worship – 9:30 a.m.

We will resume our normal times in September.

Workday Saturday

There will be a workday this Saturday June 12. We hope to see you there as we will be doing general cleaning as well as clearing more garbage out of the Annex basement.

Exit Signs and Exterior Lights Instalation

This week we also were able to complete the electrical work that needed done for the day care occupancy permit. Thanks to Dave (pictured left) we were able to get the work done in two days.

The extent of the work included:

Instilation of 3 lighted exit signs
4 interior emergency lights at each exit sign
2 emergency lights outside of each exit door
lowering of the fire alarms to handicapped code

I hope everyone feels safer with our new equipment.

Back Yard Cleanup Complete

Our first project was completed last week by Bill Watts. Cleanup of the back area. Bill removed all the leaves and trash, pressure washed the bricks and repaired the fence. So it swings easily. The next plan for the back area is to turn the steps into a small storage are for the lawnmower.
